William Wood was born on 17 July 1760 in Oyster Bay, Queens County, New York.4 He was the son of Samuel Wood and Freelove Wright.4 Samuel Wood married Mary U. Searing, daughter of John Searing and Mary Prior, on 8 August 1782 in Cow Neck, Long Island, New York.4,5 Samuel Wood died on 5 May 1844 at age 83.2,4 He was buried at Friends' Burying Ground (Now part of Prospect Park), Brooklyn, New York City, New York.4
