Abraham Sutton Underhill was born on 4 March 1807 in New York City, New York.1,2 He was the son of Joshua Underhill and Mary Sutton.1 Abraham Sutton Underhill married Mary F. Shotwell, daughter of Joseph S. Shotwell and Deborah (?), on 12 February 1845 in New York City, New York.2 Abraham Sutton Underhill died from cancer of the stomach on 12 December 1881 at 81 East 63rd Street, New York City, New York, at age 74.2 He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetary, Bronx, New York City, New York.2 His estate was probated on 25 May 1882 in New York City, New York.2

Underhill on 15 March 1846.5,2 Abraham Sutton Underhill became the father of Abraham Fredrick Shotwell Underhill on 10 June 1856.2 Abraham Sutton Underhill administered the will of Joshua Sutton Underhill dated 7 March 1857 at No. 17 East 25th Street, New York City, New York.2 Abraham Sutton's son Abraham Fredrick Shotwell Underhill died on 27 March 1876 in San Diago, California.2 Abraham Sutton Underhill left a will on 18 July 1879 in Plainfield, New Jersey, and mentions Mary F. Shotwell, Cornelia W. Underhill, William Wilson Underhill, Joseph F. Shotwell and Walter F. Shotwell.2 As of before 1880, Abraham Sutton Underhill and Mary F. Shotwell lived in 522 Central Avenue, Plainfield, Union county, New Jersey, with Cornelia W. Underhill.6 Abraham Sutton Underhill was in the Fire Insurance business.6
