John Sherman was born in August 1644 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island.2 He was the son of Philip Sherman and Sarah Odding.3 John Sherman married Sarah Spooner, daughter of William Spooner, on 13 November 1674 in Dartmouth, (now Bristol County), New Plymouth Colony.3 John Sherman died on 16 April 1734 in Dartmouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, at age 89.2
