Rev John Maverick was baptized on 28 December 1578 in Awliscombe, Devon, England.2 He was the son of Peter Maverick and Dorothy Tucke.2 Rev John Maverick married Mary Gye, daughter of Robert Gye and Grace Dowrish, on 28 October 1600 in Ilsington, Devon, England.2,3 Rev John Maverick died on 3 February 1635/36 in Dorchester, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, at age 57 survived by Mary Gye.2
Rev John Maverick was educated on 24 October 1595 at Exeter College, Oxford, England.2 He was ordained as deacon and priest on 29 July 1597 in Exeter, Devon, England. He received a B.A. on 8 July 1599 at Exeter College, Oxford, England.2 He became the father of Samuel Maverick about 1602.2 Rev John Maverick received a M.A. on 7 July 1603 at Exeter College, Oxford, England.2 He became the father of Elias Maverick about 1604.1 Rev John Maverick was ordained a curate from 1606 to 1614 in South Huish, Devon, England.2 He was ordained a rector from 1615 to 1629 in Beaworthy, Devon, England.2 He became the father of Antipas Maverick say 1619.2 Rev John Maverick became the father of John Maverick say 1621.2 Rev John Maverick and Mary Gye immigrated on 30 May 1630 on the Ship 'Mary and John'.1 Rev John Maverick was listed requesting freeman on 19 October 1630 in Massachusetts Bay Colony.2 He was listed a freeman on 18 May 1631 in Massachusetts Bay Colony.2 He was a ruling minister in 1633 in Dorchester, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.2 Was chosed one of the teachers of the Puritan church that was organized at Plymouth in the Mary & John, one of the ships of Winthrop's fleet, with the colonists who arrived in New England 30 May 1630 & founded the town of Dorchester until his death.1 He is not a descendant of Royalty sufficient proof of alleged royal ancestry is lacking, royal ancestry is through his wife Mary Gye.1
