Empress Matilda (Maud) (of Germany) was born about February 1102 in London, Middlesex, England.2,1 She was the daughter of King Henry I "Beauclerc" (of England) and Princess Matilda 'Atheling' (of Scotland).2 Empress Matilda (Maud) (of Germany) married first Emperor Henry V (of the Holy Roman Empire), son of Emperor Henry IV (of the Holy Roman Empire) and Bertha (of Savoy), on 7 January 1113/14.3 Empress Matilda (Maud) (of Germany) married second Duke Geoffrey V 'le Bon' Plantagenet, son of King Fulk V "le Jeune" (the younger) and Erembourge (?), on 22 May 1127 in Le Mans, Sarthe, France.1,3,2 Empress Matilda (Maud) (of Germany) died on 10 September 1167 in Notre-Dame, Des Pres, France.2 She is also reported to have died on 10 September 1169 in Notre Dame, Rouen, Seine-Maritime, France.1 She was buried at Bec Abbey, Le Bec-Hellouin, Eure, France.1
