Thomas Morton of Merrymount1

Thomas Morton of Merrymount was born before 1600.1 He married Alice (?) on 6 November 1621 in Tilehurst, Berkshire, England.1 Thomas Morton of Merrymount died in 1647.1
He immigrated in 1622 to Mount Wollaston (aka Merrymount, now Quincy), Massachusetts, under Captain Richard Wollaston.1 Thomas Morton of Merrymount was one of the most entertaining characters in early New England history and was a constant thorn in the side of all Puritan authority. He erected a maypole at Wessagusset, to the displeasure of the settlers at Plymouth. In 1628 they put together a syndicate of investor who underwrite the expense of sending him back to England.1 Thomas Morton of Merrymount immigrated in 1628 to in England; not by own choice.1 He immigrated in 1630.1 He immigrated say 1633.1 He immigrated Early 1640's.1
