John Underhill was born on 11 April 1642.1 He was the son of Captain John Underhill and Helena de Hooch.1 John Underhill was baptized on 24 April 1642 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts; being about 13 days old.3 He married Mary Prior, daughter of Matthew Prior and Mary Clark, on 11 October 1668.3,2 John Underhill died on 23 December 1692 at age 50 Quaker Records say 28th 10th month 1692.4 He was buried in The Underhill Burying Ground, Locust Vally, Long Island.4 His estate was probated on 18 May 1693.4
John's mother Helena de Hooch died in 1658 in Southold, Long Island, New York.1 John Underhill was Commissioned a Captain in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York, on 21 June 1666.4 Their marriage was pronounced null and they were fined five, then ten pounds each for breach and contempt of the law as they were married in the manner of the Society of Friends, but contrary to the laws of the Colony, because of the omission of "priestly or civil official".4 He became the father of John Underhill on 1 July 1670.4 John's father Captain John Underhill died on 21 July 1672 in Killingsworth, Oyster Bay, Long Island.1,3 John Underhill became the father of Daniel Underhill on 3 November 1672.4 John Underhill became the father of Samuel Underhill on 18 February 1674/75.4 John Underhill became the father of Mary Underhill on 26 April 1677.4 John Underhill became the father of Abraham Underhill on 28 August 1679.4 John Underhill became the father of Deborah Underhill on 11 April 1682.4 John Underhill became the father of Sarah Underhill on 17 August 1687.4 John Underhill became the father of Jacob Underhill on 16 December 1689.4 John Underhill became the father of Hannah Underhill on 23 March 1690.4 John Underhill left a will on 15 December 1692 with heirs John Underhill, Daniel Underhill, Abraham Underhill, Samuel Underhill, Jacob Underhill, Mary Underhill, Deborah Underhill, Sarah Underhill and Hannah Underhill.4
