Joseph (Gospel) was the son of Jacob (Mt 1).1 Joseph (Gospel) married Mary (Gospel), daughter of Heli (Luke 3).
Mary (Gospel) (who was betrothed to Joseph (Gospel)) was told by Gabriel (Angel) that she would give birth to a son, Jesus (NT) by the Holy Spirit (Bible), and was told that her relative Elizabeth (Luke 1) was six months pregnant.2 When Joseph (Gospel) discovered that Mary (Gospel) was with child through the Holy Spirit (Bible), he first had mind to divorce her quietly, but an Angel of the LORD (Bible) came to him and reasured him, so he took Mary (Gospel) to be his wife, but did not have union with her until after she gave birth.3 Joseph (Gospel) and Mary (Gospel) went to Bethleham, Judea to register for the census called by Caesar Augustus (during the rule of Governor Quirinus of Syria (Luke 2).)4 Joseph (Gospel) became the father of Jesus (NT) c 6 BC ; One theory, based on astrologically significant events places it at about April 17, 6 BC.5,6 An Angel of the LORD (Bible) appeared to the shepherds (Luke 2) that were living in the fields near Bethleham and announced the birth of Jesus (NT). The shepherds then went off and found Joseph (Gospel) and Mary (Gospel) with Jesus (NT) lying in the manger. They spread the word of what they had seen and heard, and all were amazed at this.7 Jesus (NT) was circumcised on the eighth day and he was given name Jesus, as the angel had named him.8
After the Magi left, an Angel of the LORD (Bible) sppeared to Joseph (Gospel) in a dream and told him to take Jesus (NT) and Mary (Gospel) to escape to Egypt because King Herod I "the Great" of Judea (Mt 2) was going to try and kill Jesus (NT).9 King Herod I "the Great" of Judea (Mt 2) died Mar/Apr 4 BC.10
After King Herod I "the Great" of Judea (Mt 2) died, an Angel of the LORD (Bible) appeared to Joseph (Gospel) in a dream, telling him it was safe to come back. So Joseph (Gospel), Mary (Gospel), and Jesus (NT) came back to Israel. On finding that King Herod Archelaus (of Judea) was on the throne, Joseph (Gospel) was afraid, and withdrew to the district of Galilee, and the town of Nazarith<>.11
