     Seigneur Jacques d'Avesnes, son of Lord Nicholas d'Avesnes and Mathilda de la Roche, was born circa 1150.1 Seigneur Jacques d'Avesnes was the son of Lord Nicholas d'Avesnes and Mathilda de la Roche. Seigneur Jacques d'Avesnes married Adele de Guise, daughter of Seigneur Bernard de Guise and Adelaide (?).2 Seigneur Jacques d'Avesnes died Fell in the Battle of Arsouf, Palestine on the 3rd Crusade on 7 September 1191 at the Battle of Arsof, Palestine.
     He was titled Seigneur d'Avesnes, Leuse, Conde and Guise.1 He was titled Constable of Flanders.1 He became the father of Seigneur Bouchard d'Avesnes circa 1180.1
