     Landgrave Karl (of Hesse-Cassel), son of Landgrave Friedrich II (of Hesse-Cassel) and Mary Hanover, was born on 19 December 1744 in Kassel, Hessen-Nassau, Prussia.1 Landgrave Karl (of Hesse-Cassel) was the son of Landgrave Friedrich II (of Hesse-Cassel) and Mary Hanover.1 Landgrave Karl (of Hesse-Cassel) was christened on 30 December 1744 in Kassel, Hessen-Nassau, Prussia.1 He married Princess Luise (of Denmark & Norway), daughter of King Frederik V (of Denmark & Norway) and Princess Louisa Hanover, on 30 August 1766 at Christiansborg Castle, Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark.1 Landgrave Karl (of Hesse-Cassel) died on 17 August 1836 at Schloss Louisenlund, Schleswig-Holstein, Prussia, at age 91.1 He was buried on 30 August 1836 in Domkirche, Schleswig, Schleswig-Holstein, Prussia.1
     He became the father of Queen Marie Sofie Friederike (of Denmark & Norway) on 28 October 1767.1 Landgrave Karl (of Hesse-Cassel) became the father of Prince Wilhelm (of Hesse-Kassel) on 15 January 1769.1 Landgrave Karl (of Hesse-Cassel) became the father of Landgrave Friedrich (of Hesse-Kassel) on 24 May 1771.1 Karl's mother Mary Hanover died on 14 January 1772 in Hanau.1 Karl's son Prince Wilhelm (of Hesse-Kassel) died on 14 July 1772.1 Landgrave Karl (of Hesse-Cassel) became the father of Princess Juliane Luise Amalie (of Hesse-Kassel) on 19 January 1773.1 Landgrave Karl (of Hesse-Cassel) became the father of Prince Christian (of Hesse) on 14 August 1776.1 Karl's father Landgrave Friedrich II (of Hesse-Cassel) died on 31 October 1785 at Schloss Weissenstein, Hessen-Nassau, Prussia.1 Landgrave Karl (of Hesse-Cassel) became the father of Louise Caroline (of Hesse) on 28 September 1789.1 Karl's daughter was married at wedding of Louise Caroline (of Hesse) and Duke Wilhelm (of Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg) in 1810 at Schloss Gottorf B. Schleswig, Schleswig-Holstein, Prussia.1 Karl's son Prince Christian (of Hesse) died on 14 November 1814.1 Landgrave Karl (of Hesse-Cassel) became a widower with the death of his wife, Princess Luise (of Denmark & Norway) on 12 January 1831 at Schloss Gottorf Bei Schleswig, Schleswig-Holstein, Prussia, at age 80.1
