In this work, 'Israel' as a country generally refers to lands that in ancient times were part of the united Kingdom of Israel, as most of the references are to ancient times. Some of these lands may now be part of other recognized countries, and much if it is now under the Palistinian authority, whose legal status involves much debate, which I am not in a position to take a stand on.
