     John Wood was born on 20 April 1791 in Cow Neck, Long Island, New York.2 He was the son of Samuel Wood and Mary U. Searing.2,1 John Wood married Sarah Mott, daughter of Samuel Mott and Sarah Franklin, on 19 October 1816 at New York Monthy Meeting.2,1 John Wood died on 25 July 1850 at age 59.2,1
     He met for worship at at New York Monthy Meeting.1 He met for worship at at Purchase Monthly Meeting.1 He was Quaker.2 He and Sarah Mott were disowned at New York Monthy Meeting (Hicksite) in 1829.1
