     Mary Prior was born in March 1652/53.2 She was the daughter of Matthew Prior and Mary Clark.2 Mary Prior married John Underhill, son of Captain John Underhill and Helena de Hooch, on 11 October 1668.1,2 Mary Prior died on 29 March 1698; Quaker records say 5th month.3 She was buried in The Underhill Burying Ground, Locust Vally, Long Island.3
     Their marriage was pronounced null and they were fined five, then ten pounds each for breach and contempt of the law as they were married in the manner of the Society of Friends, but contrary to the laws of the Colony, because of the omission of "priestly or civil official".3 She became the mother of John Underhill on 1 July 1670.3 Mary Prior became the mother of Daniel Underhill on 3 November 1672.3 Mary Prior became the mother of Samuel Underhill on 18 February 1674/75.3 Mary Prior became the mother of Mary Underhill on 26 April 1677.3 Mary Prior became the mother of Abraham Underhill on 28 August 1679.3 Mary Prior became the mother of Deborah Underhill on 11 April 1682.3 Mary Prior became the mother of Sarah Underhill on 17 August 1687.3 Mary Prior became the mother of Jacob Underhill on 16 December 1689.3 Mary Prior became the mother of Hannah Underhill on 23 March 1690.3 Mary Prior became a widow with the death of her husband, John Underhill on 23 December 1692 at age 50; Quaker Records say 28th 10th month 1692.3 Mary Prior met for worship at at New York Monthy Meeting.2
