     Penelope Van Princen was born in 1622 in Holland.1 She was the daughter of Baron (?) Van Princess. Penelope Van Princen married John Kent.2 Penelope Van Princen married Richard Stout, son of John Stout and Elizabeth Bee, in 1644.3 Penelope Van Princen married Richard Stout, son of John Stout and Elizabeth Bee, in 1645.1 Penelope Van Princen died in 1732.
      Penelope Van Princen was also known as Penelope Van Prince.3 Penelope Van Princen was also known as Penelope VonPrinces.4 Penelope Van Princen was also known as Penelope VonPrincess.4 The story, founded on tradition, is told that a sick young Dutchman named van Pricen and his wife Penelope were left on a shipwrecked Dutch ship on Sandy Hook by the crew and passengers who went for relief. The Indians tomahawked the young man, mangled the wife and left her for dead. However, she recovered, subsisted for several days on berries, was discovered by an old Indian who preserved her life, and she was ransomed by the Dutch of New Netherlands. There, Penelope van Princen married Richard Stout. It is said that the old Indian visited them in Midletown, New Jersey and on one occasion informed them of a plot to massacre the whites. By putting them on guard the Indian saved the settlement from destruction.5 The ship on which Penelope came to New York from Prussia was wrecked on Staten Island. Indians killed all the others and left her for dead. Richard Stout found her and took her to his house. She Recovered from being disembowel, married Richard Stout and had 10 children.4 She and John Kent emmigrated from in Prussia. Penelope Van Princen and John Kent immigrated to in Staten Island, New Netherlands. Penelope Van Princen became a widow when her husband, John Kent died by an Indian Tomahawk.
