     Mary Stuart Queen of Scotts was born on 8 December 1542 in Linlithgow, Linlithgow, West-Lothian, Scotland.2 She was the daughter of King James V (of Scotland) and Princess Marie (of Lorraine-Guise).1 Mary Stuart Queen of Scotts was christened on 9 September 1543.2 She married first King Francis II (of France), son of King Henry II (of France) and Catherine Of Florence de Medici.1 Mary Stuart Queen of Scotts married second Henry Stewart, son of Matthew Stuart and Margaret Douglas, on 29 July 1565 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2,1 Mary Stuart Queen of Scotts married Earl James Hepburn of Bothwell on 15 May 1567.2,1 Mary Stuart Queen of Scotts died (executed) on 8 February 1587 at Fotheringham Cas, Northamptonshire, England, at age 44.2,1 She was buried in 1587 at Westminster Abbey, Westminister, Middlesex, England.2
     The change between Stewart and Stuart took place when Mary, Queen of Scots married the Dauphin, later Francois II of France. The French spelled her surname 'Stuart', and when she returned, a widow, to Scotland, after 13 years in France, she kept the spelling, which her various half-siblings and cousins gradually adopted. She married one of the cousins, so her son was also a Stuart. Jean Coeur de Lapin atsarisborn@hotmail.com.2 She became Queen of Scotland in 1542 replacing King James V (of Scotland).3 Mary Stuart Queen of Scotts became a widow with the death of her husband, King Francis II (of France) on 5 December 1560 in Orleans, France, at age 16.2 Mary Stuart Queen of Scotts was replaced as King of Scotland by King James VI & I Stuart VI of Scotland and I of England in 1567.3
