Andrew Kennan was born on 20 April 1754 in Rutland, Worcester County, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of James Kennan and Margaret Smith.1,2 Andrew Kennan married Peggy Smith on 22 January 1778.1 A contract for the marriage of Andrew Kennan and Peggy Smith was signed on 31 May 1777.2
Andrew Kennan began military service circa 19 April 1775 in Charlemont, Hampshire County (now Franklin), Massachusetts, served for only a few days at this point.2 He was later a corporal in Captain Nahum Ward's Company,Col. David Well's Regiment of Hampshire County in the Revolutionary War.2 He owned a farm of 200 acres on the north side of Deerfield River and ten acres of land near the saw mill on the river. This he sold to Samuel Taylor, Apr 12, 1784.2
