     Elizabeth Slade Pierce was born on 22 March 1822 in Providence, Rhode Island.1 She was the daughter of Levi Pierce and Betsey S. Wheeler.1 Elizabeth Slade Pierce married Courtland Philip Livingston Butler, son of Samuel Herrick Butler and Judith Livingston, on 16 December 1840 in Buffalo, New York.1 Elizabeth Slade Pierce died on 1 March 1901 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio, at age 78.1
