     King Alexander II (of Scotland) was born on 24 August 1198 in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland.2 He was the son of King William I The Lion (of Scotland) and Ermengarde De Beaumont.1 King Alexander II (of Scotland) married first Princess Joane (of England), daughter of King John "Lackland" (of England) and Isabella (of Angoulême).1 King Alexander II (of Scotland) married second Marie De Coucy, daughter of Baron Enguerrand III De Coucy and Marie De Montmirail, on 15 May 1239 in Boves, Picardy, Kent, England.2,1 King Alexander II (of Scotland) died on 8 July 1249 in Kerrera, Argyllshire, Scotland, at age 50.2 He was buried at Melrose Abbey, Melrose, Roxburghshire, Scotland.2
     King Alexander II (of Scotland) became King of Scotland in 1214 replacing King William I The Lion (of Scotland).1 King Alexander II (of Scotland) was replaced as King of Scotland by King Alexander III (of Scotland) in 1249.1
