     George I, elector of Hanover, succeeded to the British throne on the death of Queen Anne in 1714. The succession was determined by the Act of Settlement of 1701, which passed over the legitimate but Roman Catholic representatives of the Stuart line in favor of the Protestant house of Hanover, descended from the daughter of James I. George quarreled both with his wife, Sophia Dorothea (1666-1726), whom he divorced and incarcerated (from 1694 until her death) in punishment for her alleged infidelity, and with his son, Prince George, who consorted with his political opponents. The prince succeeded to the throne as George II when George I died on June 12, 1727. Died of stroke. Reigned from 1714 to 1727.2 He became the father of King George II (of England) on 30 October 1683.2 King George I (of England) became the father of Sophia Dorothea of Prussia Hanover on 26 March 1687.2 King George I (of England) became the father of Anna Louise von der Schulenberg in 1692.2 King George I (of England) became the father of Petronille Melusine Von Der Schulenberg on 1 April 1693.2 The marriage of King George I (of England) and Sophia Dorothea Brunswick was annulled on 28 December 1694.2 King George I (of England) became the father of Margaret Gertrude von der Schulenberg in 1703.2 George I's son was married at wedding of King George II (of England) and Caroline (?) on 22 August 1705 in Herrenhausen, Hannover, Prussia.2,3 King George I (of England) became King of England in 1714 replacing Queen Anne (of England).1 George I's mother Sophia (?) died on 8 June 1714 in Herrenhausen, Hannover, Prussia.2,1 King George I (of England) was replaced as King of England by King George II (of England) in 1727.3
