Rupert von Wittelsbach

Rupert von Wittelsbach was born on 18 May 1869.¹ He was the son of King Ludwig III (of Bavaria) and Marie Theresia Henrietta Dorothea von Habsburg-Lothringen.¹ Rupert von Wittelsbach married first Duchess Marie Gabriele (?), daughter of Duke Karl Theodor (in Bavaria) and Infanta Marie Josepha (of Portugal), on 10 July 1900 at Allerheiligenhofkirche, Munich, Bavaria, (now Germany).² Rupert von Wittelsbach married second Princess Antonia (of Luxemburg), daughter of Grand Duke Wilhelm (of Luxemburg) and Infanta Maria Anna (of Portugal), on 7 April 1921 in Parish Church of St. James, Lenggries, Bavaria, Germany.³ Rupert von Wittelsbach died on 2 August 1955 at Schloss Leutstetten, Leutstetten, Bavaria, Germany, at age 86.¹
He became the father of Luitpold Maximilian Ludwig Karl von Wittelsbach on 8 May 1901.³ Rupert von Wittelsbach became the father of Irmingard von Wittelsbach in 1902.² Rupert's daughter Irmingard von Wittelsbach died in 1903.² Rupert von Wittelsbach became the father of Albert von Wittelsbach on 3 May 1905.⁴ Rupert von Wittelsbach became the father of Rudolf von Wittelsbach in 1909.² Rupert's son Rudolf von Wittelsbach died in 1912.² Rupert von Wittelsbach became a widower with the death of his wife, Duchess Marie Gabriele (?) on 24 October 1912 in Sorrento, Italy, at age 34.² Rupert's son Luitpold Maximilian Ludwig Karl von Wittelsbach died on 27 August 1914 in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, (now Germany).³ Rupert's mother Marie Theresia Henrietta Dorothea von Habsburg-Lothringen died on 3 February 1919 at Schloss Wildenwart, near prien, Bavaria, Germany.¹ Rupert von Wittelsbach became King (Jacobite) of England on 3 February 1919 replacing Marie Theresia Henrietta Dorothea von Habsburg-Lothringen.² Rupert's father King Ludwig III (of Bavaria) died on 18 October 1921 in Sárvár, Hungary.³ Rupert von Wittelsbach became the father of Heinrich von Wittelsbach in 1922.² Rupert's son was married at wedding of Albert von Wittelsbach and Countess Marita Draskovich von Trakostjan on 3 September 1930 at the Priory Church, Schloss Berchtesgarden, Bavaria, Germany; This marriage was not in conformity with the laws of the House of Wittelsbach respecting succession to the Bavarian throne. In Consequence, Marita was not properly styled "Hereditary Princess of Bavaria" until May 18, 1949, when Albert's father Rupert recognised the marriage as dynastic for Bavaria.⁴ Rupert von Wittelsbach became the father of Sophie von Wittelsbach in 1935.² Rupert von Wittelsbach became a widower with the death of his wife, Princess Antonia (of Luxemburg) on 31 July 1954 in Lenzerheilde, Switzerland, at age 54.³
Rupert von Wittelsbach was replaced as King (Jacobite) of England by Albert von Wittelsbach on 2 August 1955.⁴
